Pharm. (Mrs.) Ukamaka Okafor JP is an Administrative Pharmacist, Public Health Consultant, Author, Community Development worker and compassionate leader.
She studied Pharmacy in the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka and graduated in 1988 with a Second Class Honors (Upper Division). She has been engaged in various postgraduate courses and became a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists in 2002 in addition to holding a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Lagos and a postgraduate diploma in Industrial Pharmacy and Health System Management from Kilimanjaro University Tanzania and Gallilee College Israel, respectively. She is presently pursuing her PhD degree in Public Health.
Personal Experience
Amaka is a Director in charge of Education and Training in Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, with a flair for community, individual and organizational development. She has worked as the PCN Internee preceptor from 2001 to date and as a mentor in the Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy Young Pharmacists Mentorship Programme from inception. She has facilitated various professional, community and religious activities locally and internationally. Presently she is the chairman of the Peer Review Committee, a part time lecturer, external assessor and postgraduate project supervisor in the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists. Her membership of professional bodies spans across the globe and includes the International Pharmaceutical Federation, Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Association, American Pharmaceutical Association, Association for Women’s Right in Development, International Federation of University Women, International Association of Public Health Logisticians, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Association of Public Health Pharmacists of Nigeria, Association of Lady Pharmacists and National Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists.
She has received various rewards of meritorious service and excellence both locally and internationally. In Cairo, September 2005, she was the second prize winner of the prestigious award of excellence in a research competition organized by the International Federation of Pharmacists based in Hague, Netherlands.
Amaka finds contentment and joy in assisting people to improve on their own lives and those of others and longs to continuously be an instrument through which God’s blessings flow to the poor and needy. She loves reading, writing, speaking and charitable activities.
She has travelled widely on conferences, trainings and leisure including the United States of America, Israel, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Ireland, Turkey, China, India, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Gambia, Tanzania and Ghana and South Korea.
She is happily married to her backbone and heartthrob, Engr. Obi Okafor and they are blessed with four wonderful children
