I’m quite concerned about the doctors’ dominance over the pharmacists and other health workers in the hospital setting. It’s frustrating. The Industrial sector is also growing but it’s still a long way off the mark. Hopefully as we go along, I’ll explain some of the challenges I perceive it faces. In few years time, I want to be able to tell myself “you were involved in this remarkable journey of placing the profession on the level it deserves to be”. It’s achievable and much easier with this program.I hope this Program gives us the extra edge to make a positive difference in the profession and also impact good qualities and Ideas to be better persons and pharmacists.I encourage us all to do whatever it takes to make this program a success and also be trustworthy.I believe that trust is the foundation on which honor is built.I want to appreciate the Organizers of this Program, It’s really a beautiful thing you are doing, Thank you.God help us all.As Men of Honor… We join Hands!!

As a new pharmacist presently working in the community practice, one area that interests me is ensuring that patients are rightly informed about the medications they use, properly educated on the dangers of drug abuse and misuse which is the order of the day in Nigeria and the need for community pharmacies to be more interested in the therapeutic outcome of the patient rather than the income generated.I hope we all together will work hand-in-hand to be built as distinct pharmacists who are set to be the game-changers in the profession. Thanks in advance for the opportunities that are attached to this program. As men of honor, we join hands.

Firstly, the traditional drug supply chain in the country is not efficient enough to ensure adequate accessibility to safe and efficacious medications by patients especially those in rural areas due to the poor communication between the stakeholders in the supply chain. To address this challenge, I am already developing a digital drug supply network using industry 4.0 technologies which will provide rapid and efficient drug supply systems in addition to detecting fake and substandard drugs in the market. When fully developed, it will be easy to access through smart phones and laptops. The end result is the improved quality of life of patients.Secondly, due to my belief in improved involvement of pharmacists in public health, the need to promote health in line with SDG, as well as collaborative health care approach in reducing infectious in the country, I led a health care team which conducted a research aimed at reducing the prevalence of Hepatitis B virus in children especially those in IDP camps. We created awareness, conducted a survey and also carried out vaccination against hepatitis B virus. We also carried out a similar study on the dangers of substance abuse amongst youths in Nigeria.Thirdly, the need for better delivery systems and improved compliance to patients living with HIV/AIDS cannot be over emphasized. Am currently carrying out a research on the feasibility of nanotechnology in formulating HIV medications. This may solve these challenges and lead to better therapeutic outcomes.I strongly believe that the PLSP will equip me better to address these challenges and much more. I am very passionate about contributing positively to the Nigerian health care sector.Thanks.

Long before the completion of my undergraduate study, the concept of interprofessional collaboration amongst healthcare professionals has been something I’d hope to see become reality, believing that it would help the development of not just the Nigerian Healthcare system but also the development and advancement of Pharmacy practice.I believe strongly that the next generation of healthcare professionals must embrace this concept and put it to practice if we desire a better healthcare system.I hope this program would avail me the tools and skills to make this a reality. I look forward to the getting all that would help me ensure that the practice of our noble profession gets better.Thank you.

I so much appreciate the organizer of this program, I believe this program would stimulate my enthusiasm and spur me into greater action in this profession. As a young pharmacist, the menace of drug and substance abuse has been something I couldn’t comprehend. I realized some of our older colleagues are not even good example in this regard. In a bid to make things work, I realized public health is the solution. Therefore I co-founded Pharma-Guide Nigeria. At Pharma-Guide, our aim is to provide solutions to societal health and drug abuse problems, particularly through education and information sharing. Hence our motto is “to inform, educate, guide, serve and intervene towards the attainment of a healthier society”. In addition, I have two articles currently going trough the process of publication;
- The medical and off label uses of Anafranil.
- A quick look on the key differences between drug mis-use and drug abuse.
I believe my participation in this program would motivate and sharpen me for greater action. My regards to the program coordinator in the person of Pharm Abimbola Adebakin

I’m very passionate about my Patients’ well-being and their quality of life. I have noticed from my little experience that many of our patients out there lack basic knowledge about common diseases and drug administration. I have however taken it upon myself to put out short videos on social media to educate them on ‘safe drug use’, ‘hazards of drug abuse & self Medication’ and basic information on certain disease conditions.I’d also like to know the measures we can take as professionals to stop these illegal street drug vendors indiscriminately selling drugs to the naive public. (They are just too many out there).I believe this platform will give me more insight on how to carry these plans effectively.Thank you once again for the opportunity given to me to be here.God bless you all.

I am of the opinion that the practice of pharmacy is still in it’s developmental stages evidenced by the lack of basic systems and structures such as electronic patient databases. As budding pharmacists, I believe our alliance will go a long way in taking this noble profession to greater heights in terms of rational drug dispensing, drug use, curbing the menace of drug abuse currently plaguing a sizable number of the Nigerian youth by creating awareness and regulating these prescription only medicines adequately.Distribution and storage of pharmaceuticals should also be our focus as pharmacists to ensure that all requirements are met ultimately, improving healthcare outcomes of patients.I am convinced that this is a great platform to grow as a new pharmacist and I am thankful for the opportunity given.

The area of pharmacy practice that interests me is the community practice. This is because I have the opportunity of making direct contact with the patients (unlike the hospital practice in Nigeria where this is still lacking). This is the point where the goal for patient compliance and not just adherence can be met. The rate at which drugs are being misused and abused is saddening and I would grab every opportunity to correct these errors so as to build a healthier nation.I look forward to getting equipped with skills and knowledge that would be helpful in eliminating unhealthy practices as it relates to patient’s compliance to dosage, self medication and drug abuse.I consider it a great privilege to be a part of this program. Thank you.

My area of interest is antibiotic resistance and regulation of their use in Nigeria. Major questions I have are:Why are antibiotics sold without questions in Nigeria? Why are Nigerians so comfortable in swallowing antibiotics?Shouldn’t there be law that makes antibiotics prescription-only medications in Nigeria?
I want to get involved in how antibiotics are prescribed and dispensed in Nigeria.

I’ve come to realize that a majority of health care practitioners pay little or no attention to the cosmetic section i.e. skincare. A lot of people believe that proper skincare means whitening ( 7 days whitening cream, perfect white e.t.c). On the long run these products take a toll on their kidneys and so on.
My other areas of concern are pharmaceutical care, poor product packaging and storage.
I strongly believe there’s a lot of room for improvement in the pharmaceutical sector and we will get there.Thank you.

I love meeting new people, surfing the internet for skincare routine videos, cooking videos and fashion in general.
I am very passionate about clinical aspects of pharmacy and public health.
I love pharmaceutical outreaches because it avails me the opportunity of giving medications and health advice to people who cannot afford to go the hospitals. I also cannot stand drug peddlers who are now very common in my area at every bus stop and in almost every commercial bus. Through this programme, I hope to find a way to put an end to this as this impacts the health of the populace terribly.
I also try to develop a good relationship with other healthcare professionals as well as my fellow pharmacists which is very important in achieving the right outcomes.I am looking forward to meeting new people, learning new things and fostering this new relationships and knowledge during and after the duration of the PLSP programme.
